Tuesday’s Tune – Everything’s not lost

It’s the third week of self-quarantine and I am as hopeful as I was when I penned my last post, Abundance.

Yes, I AM hopeful. Positive. Confident. Certain.

When I started writing and blogging at Making the days Count almost ten years ago, it was a choice.  It was a choice to make my day better every day, even when I failed or fell, or came up short. I chose to look at the ways I could do better. I am still learning.

After I clicked PUBLISH on Abundance, I called upstairs to my wife, B,

“Church at 11,” I made another cup of coffee and went upstairs showered and dressed for church.

It was a bright sunny day. It was a big blue cloudless sky. When I started the car, Coldplay’s song “Everything’s not lost” began to play.

My car’s radio and my iPhone connect and sometimes a song from iTunes begins to play when the car starts. iTunes selects a random song, most of the time I stop the music, that morning I let the song play.

….If you ever feel neglected
If you think all is lost
I’ll be counting up my demons yeah
Hoping everything’s not lost

The church we attend is a short drive and the song, “Everything’s not lost,” was almost over when I parked the car. Chris Martin crooned,

I don’t let it stand in our way
‘Cause my head just hates when I think of
The things that I shouldn’t have done
But life is for living, we all know
And I don’t wanna live it alone

That Sunday’s church service was uplifting, and I left church knowing that everything’s not lost.

a reminder that there is light and that all is not lost

Since that service on the Ides of March, we’ve been to e-church and we will continue to do so until the COVID19 crisis is over.

In full disclosure, I started writing this post yesterday, and I am finishing it today on Wednesday. I am not playing an April Fool joke on you by posting a Tuesday’s Tune on Wednesday.

We’re on Spring Break. Our trip to Florida was canceled by the quarantine. We’re making the best of it. I’ve walked daily and until Sunday I had a streak of eight days in a row. The streak was snapped, but I am on day two of a new streak.

I have noticed that I see more people in the neighborhood walking than before the quarantine and I suppose they too, are working on their streaks.

The past few day’s news has been bleak. I learned what I had long believed that school will continue as e-Learning and we heard the projections of what the future holds. Bleak and scary.

We are on spring break and it’s back to school and teaching in few days.

Despite yesterday’s news I remain hopeful. I’ll continue to be hopeful by walking, working on my streak, eating dinner with my family, looking for signs of spring, and thinking of my mom and abundance. If you haven’t heard Coldplay’s song “Everything’s not lost” I’ve included both the song and the lyrics.

I know it’s gonna be a great day. It is what I choose to make it, so I’d better jump up, jump in, and seize the day. Making the Days Count because everything is NOT lost.

What song have you heard recently that gave you hope?

“Everything’s not lost” – Coldplay

When I’m counting up my demons
Saw there was one for every day
With the good ones on my shoulder
I drove the other ones away

If you ever feel neglected
If you think all is lost
I’ll be counting up my demons yeah
Hoping everything’s not lost

When you thought that it was over
You could feel it all around
Everybody’s out to get you
Don’t you let it drag you down

‘Cause if you ever feel neglected
If you think that all is lost
I’ll be counting up my demons yeah
Hoping everything’s not lost

If you ever feel neglected
If you think all is lost
I’ll be counting up my demons yeah
Hoping everything’s not lost

Singing out
Oh oh oh yeah, oh oh yeah, oh oh yeah
Everything’s not lost

Come on yeah oh oh yeah come on yeah
Everything’s not lost

Oh oh oh yeah oh oh yeah oh oh yeah
And everything’s not lost

Come on yeah oh oh yeah come on yeah
Come on yeah oh oh yeah come on yeah
Everything’s not lost

Sing out yeah oh oh yeah come on yeah
Everything’s not lost

Come on yeah oh oh yeah sing out yeah
Everything’s not lost

Now I never meant to do you wrong
But that’s what I came here to say
But if I was wrong, then I’m sorry
I don’t let it stand in our way
‘Cause my head just hates when I think of
The things that I shouldn’t have done
But life is for living, we all know
And I don’t wanna live it alone

Sing out, ah ah
Sing ah ah ah
And just sing ah ah ah ah ah
