Yesterday, it rained for the first time in a couple of weeks. It didn’t rain much but our streak of clear skies came to a halt. it’s been a dry summer and early fall.
This morning it was overcast, and I couldn’t see the stars, or Jupiter, when I walked Ivy into the backyard for her morning business. Unfortunately, I didn’t feel well this morning and elected to use one of my sick days. By midday, the clouds had been replaced by a fabulous fall blue sky.
I was on the porch when I leaned back and looked up. This is what I saw.
Amazing, soon these leaves will carpet the backyard before being raked, bagged, and sent away.
The color this year has come late, but it is beautiful. I am going to appreciate the color before it gone for the season. It’s been a full day, even for a sick day. I am feeling much better, and I’ll be back in front of my kiddos tomorrow. It’ll be a great day, maybe a million and six times better than today, but who knows. In the meantime, I am going to proof, edit, upload, then head to bed. Making the Days Count, when I am sick, when I am well, and every time in between.
How is the color in your world?
We get very little fall “color” here and it doesn’t last too long. We had one week of cooler weather (70’s) and now it’s back up to almost 90 again. It’s been terribly dry here so most of the leaves are just curling up and dying from lack of moisture. A lot of dry green leaves are falling.
Anyway, I’m glad you’re feeling better and back to school. Have a great rest of October.

Twins were born Thursday! Super exciting. Our yard is so dry, but Friday morning we got an inch of rain with crazy lightning and thunder overnight. The color is stunning, but the leaves are a fallin’. I hope you have a fabulous week.
Woo Hoo on the arrival of the twins!!! So excited for you.
Keep exploring and sharing!
Beautiful tree, Clay! Thanks for sharing with us – even on a sick day. Glad you are feeling better!
In the post I left out that our DIL was induced Wednesday *(and gave birth early Thursday morning…) and I am now officially and a grandpa… more to post later. The color this weekend is stunning, but the leaves will be falling and blowing. Have a fabulous weekend.
Get well soon Clay! Our autumn colour are lovely. But famously, yours are probably better.
Beauty is all in the beholder! Twins arrived early Thursday and both are healthy and thriving, they get to go home today! The color has been stunning, especially in the early and late light. Enjoy the weekend and the week ahead!
Excellent news! Hope this week is wonderful.
We have wonderful color down here, almost done though, the leaves are falling. Had a hard frost last night, so more will fall. I wish fall could last until spring.
I was Up North a couple of weeks ago and the color was magnificent. We visited our daughter in East Lansing on our way up and drove through the farm fields along 127 in the late Friday afternoon and could see the combines working the fields. It was amazing.
