W^2 or W squared for Wordless Wednesday, September 2, 2026
On my way home last week I took the above photo. The world learned of death the previous day and many people shared the sign’s sentiment.
And the other side of the sign…….the flipside.
I didn’t pay any attention to it at the time, but is the flipside is brighter. It faces the sun in the later afternoon and is fully illuminated on a beautiful sunny late summer afternoon.
The other side is in the shade and appears darker, even though it is a positive thought.
There are always two ways to look at things – we can be sad, or we can be happy for the memories we have and what learned.
We played her song “9 to 5” in the hallways Friday when school let out for the weekend. Many of the students were signing the words as they walked to their bus, their pickup, or walk home.
Dolly helped us smile one more time.
We finished Day 13 today, but who’s counting when you are making the days count? We have a lot more to go, so I’d better finish this post and mow the lawn before I am mowing by flashlight.

The world DOES need more Dollys. That feeling will last a little while and then, sadly, we’ll forget. I hope a few people keep her in mind and try to emulate her values.
I hope your new school year is going well. Maybe you can help develop more Dollys in the next generation.
Oh yes indeed! And then we’ll remember in a more than a few years and be surprised that she passed more than a decade ago! We all have an arc to our lives, it is truly what the start and finish. Enjoy your weekend.

What an interesting article, but she was amazing, and thank you for sharing it. It isn’t often enough that we hear or read of a person’s good deeds, Dolly was always up to good. I believe she embodies the other side of the sign. Though country-western music isn’t one of my favorites, I do listen to it occasionally.
