fun: a photo challenge

Fun, funner, funnest. Yeah, there are red squiggly lines under funner and funnest. Every year some student will challenge me when I use funner and funnest in class, but they are correct; just as swim – swam – swum are. They just don’t sound right, but they are.

Summer has been fun. It went quickly as summer always does. I was going to sit down Sunday night and write this post and hit publish, then life, summer life, got in the way. It always does.

Sunday turned out to be the best day, in terms of weather, of our short trip – Thursday to Monday, our last hurrah before school starts.

We cleaned the garage, and the fridge in anticipation of leaving Monday and I hauled the garbage to the dump. Then we spent the rest of the day on the lake. It was a blast. I was able to catch the sunset for one final summer evening. There are never the same.

Then we watched the 100m dash. 9.8 seconds. That’s fast, lightning fast. Almost as fast as summer passes.

Monday we pulled the speed boat and hauled it off to winterized. We packed and finished the last couple of chores, then left.

We got home late last night and it was dark. So, I couldn’t see how long the grass had grown. Yikes. We’re home and we’ll be home for a while, until Labor Day weekend.

I am going to poke my head in at school later today and spend a few hours there tomorrow organizing my room in anticipation of Thursday’s first day back.

Today is gonna be a great day. I know it and I can feel it. So, I had better jump up, jump in, and seize the day, before it seizes me. Making the Days Count, one day at a time, looking for fun, finding it everywhere.

What was the funnest part of your summer? Or is it yet to come?

Today’s post is inspired by last week’s WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge: Fun. This week’s theme is simple: share a photo of something fun! Let’s all shake our booties, literal or figurative.

    1. Thank you Mary. The greatest pleasures in life are not through experience, but through sharing, truly. The lake is a great place to spend the summer. Each year it gets funner and funner, seriously. We’ll go back Labor Day weekend and put it all way and begin dreaming about next summer. I am grateful for the place by the lake, I am even more determined to pass it on to my own kids with hopes that they pass it on to theirs. That would be the funnest of all. Take care and enjoy your Friday. Thanks for stopping in. Peace.
