W^2 or W squared for Wordless Wednesday, June 22, 2022
Last night I set my alarm so I could go outside to see the five visible planets.
This morning the alarm went off, I thought about ignoring it, but I got up. I pulled a sweatshirt over my head and put on a pair of shorts and walked outside.
I had the lake to myself. The sun was beginning to rise, and the sky was clear, with the waning crescent moon highlighting the lake’s gentle waves. I could clearly see three of the planets; Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn and while Venus had risen, I couldn’t see it because of the tree line. Mercury was still below the horizon. I decided four three planets and the moon were enough.
Before long the sun rose, and the day began. It is going to be a great day and tomorrow could possibly be a million and six times better. So, I’d better jump up, jump in, and seize the day. Making the days Count one day at a time, stopping to take in the world for moment.
When was the last time you got up early to see the morning sky?

I got up early to do a sunrise-ish walk last week. It was promisingly clear when I got up, but as I got going, dark cloud advanced and covered the sky. Ah well, it was beautiful in its own way!
Being so far north, and you are much further north than me, the sun rises and sets so much earlier and later in the summer that the really dark time is very late or incredibly early, at least for me. Also, being by the lake there is also much less light pollution than at home. I do enjoy looking up and being full of wonder. Stay curious.
We both try, don’t we? 😉
Cool beans. I’ve been meaning to get outside in the evenings to start watching, but it seems like by the time guests get settled in and I have my dinner, all I can think about is putting on my jammies and curling up with a good book.
Thanks for sharing the fun video.

I am with you. I like being in bed by 10 and up by 6… but sometimes, especially here at the lake when darkness falls about 10 pm I find myself up far too late. I’ve been letting myself wake up without an alarm – except for Wednesday. So far, three weeks in it’s working. I love JPL’s videos they are well done and I find myself looking for things I had no idea about. Stay curious. Peace.
Isn’t it wonderful being out under the stars? Worth setting the alarm and getting out of bed. You can nap later on.
I also had a monster walk with the puppy, too. She and I crashed later. There is value in looking up when I feel like Simba and Mufasa in the Lion King. Stay strong, and curious. Peace.
