details – part 2

Sunday afternoon, it rained. We needed the rain, it was dry and the fire conditions in the area are low, yesterday they were listed as moderate, but the rain was enough to lower them. No one wants a fire in the forest. On the flipside, no one likes rain, especially at the lake.

I used the rainy day to relax – actually binge watch several episodes of Madame Secretary on Netflix. I am embarrassed, but not really. I watched my first episode a couple of weeks ago and now I am hooked. I watch few television shows but I did get caught up in Downton Abbey, and when it came on Sunday evening we’d watch it together, B and I. We’ll miss that show.

The rain began gently, then it poured. I love the sound of rain on the roof, it’s peaceful and calming. Exactly what I needed, yesterday.

Between episodes, I looked out across the lake. The screen was soaked and I could see rain drop trapped in the screen. I took a few photos and what you see is what I captured.

After the rain crossed the area, the sun came out and B took the boat out. I stayed home and manned the fort. I watched the Astros baseball game (they one) and caught a couple more episodes of Madame Secretary, I am almost caught up. Sometimes it’s good to get lost in something to let the details sort themselves out and let the dust settle. Sometimes the best, and most difficult, thing to do is nothing, that’s what I did Sunday.

But, I can’t do nothing forever.

It’s Monday and the sun is shining, the birds are singing, and the wind is blowing. Too windy to take the boat out for now, maybe later. But the garage needs to be organized and swept, the shack needs to cleaned, and there is more, there always is. Something to do, somewhere to be, whatever and wherever – Making the Days Count, one day at a time. Have a wonderful day.

When was the last time you got lost in a diversion or did seemingly nothing?

Today’s post is inspired by this week’s WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge: Details. It’s actually a second attempt. For this week’s challenge, try to look past the big picture and take a more intimate approach. Zoom in on details in unexpected places — it can be something from the natural world, or it can be human-made. We’re excited to see what you find with your lens.

  1. Interesting shots.Today we’re having a wonderfully sunny day, as we did yesterday. But I think that’s it. Summer done. A bit of an excuse to be lazy for once: 8 o’clock in the morning and already 21 degrees. 30 later. I propose to enjoy it to the full!

    1. Thank you. The sun is shining and it is beautiful! It’s 23 / 74 here and getting up to 27 / 80. Perfect day to spend on the lake. Forecast calls for it get HOT later in the week – we’ll deal with it when it comes, I can always go swimming! Have a great week and enjoy summer.

    1. Diversions are good. Sometimes there’s a reason to pause and do nothing, rather do something and mess it up. We got a fair amount of rain, but it’s been sunny since and the forecast calls for HOT weather starting tomorrow. Hang in there, you know when it rains, it pours! Have a great week.
