W^2 or W squared for Wordless Wednesday, December 7, 2022
The past few weekends my wife and I have spent the afternoons cleaning leaves and adding Christmas lights to our yard.
We finished this past weekend, and I was at the right place at the right time to capture the lights and the sunset before they were gone for another day.
I enjoy looking out in the evening and seeing the illumination of the yard and I am reminded there is light in the world.
Sunny days in December are rare. This morning there is dense fog, tomorrow rain. But, I know there is light amid the darkness and I am going to find it and let it shine. Today is going to be an amazing day. I know it and I can feel it, so I’d better jump up, jump in, and seize the day. Making the Days Count, one day at a time, leaving my mark.
How is your Wednesday going (or any day for that matter)?
Ha! Today I was prepared to allow myself Christmas thoughts! Apart from making the Christmas cake (in October) I tend to stick to family tradition and do as little as possible till as near Christmas as as possible. For instance, Christmas lights had to go up on Christmas Eve and come down on Twelfth Night. No exceptions. I’m not quite so hard line myself, but … I’m getting on that way! Hope you go on enjoying the pre-season!
Margaret, that is so interesting. Our home is pretty strict about lights as well, but ours go up Thanksgiving weekend – the fourth Thursday in November. The Christmas tree is usually a bit later. Right now it is up, but not decorated. Getting the lights down is NEVER on the 12th day. We usually need to wait for the snow to melt, but the lights are off. Tonight, Fern and I walked the neighborhood and a fair number of the homes are decorated and alight. With the full moon it was a beautiful evening to walk even though the temperature was at freezing. Thank you for stopping in. Peace.
How interesting! I can see that Thanksgiving makes a real difference to your Festival Calendar. May you enjoy you lights and decorations, whenever they go up, or come down.
