Yesterday as we were cleaning up from the Green and Gold banquet, I spied a patch of Earth with some shoots pushing through. When, I got home I looked around our yard for signs of sprouts and found none, but I will be back out again looking; it’s the time of the year when I scour the garden looking for spring’s first crocuses, daffodils, and other signs of awakening after a long winter. Spring, it is almost here.
Yesterday began daylight savings time – it is glorious to have more light later when we can use it. A couple of weeks ago, on March 1st, I checked the sunrise and sunset and calculated the amount of daylight or rather sunlight. I did the same for today’s readings:
March 1st | March 14th | ||
Sunrise | 6:28 | 7:07 | |
Sunset | 5:43 | 6:58 | |
Daylight (hours of sunlight) | 11H 15M | 11 51M |
The news excited me and made my morning. In two weeks, we have gained over a half hour of sunlight and far more in attitude! The solstice is next week, it will be spring break in less than two, and there is a lot to look forward to ahead.
In the meantime, there is today, tomorrow, and what needs to be done and accomplished. When I reviewed my schedule, today looks to be a busy day with many items on my ‘to do’ list, leaving little time, if any, for my want list or even my ‘would like to do ‘list, so I will just have to Make the Day Count with the time and resources I have. Making the Days Count, one day at a time.
a beautiful sunrise this morning – it’s gonna warm up to the mid-40s!
Yes – it was a beautiful day – it was cooler than it looked, but the sun was glorious! I found the beginnings of a couple of crocusses poking up in the backyard Monday afternoon! Look for them in an upcoming post.
