W^2 or W squared for Wordless Wednesday, July 19, 2023
It is Wednesday, again. I am in Denver, Colorado for another baseball game. Last night’s game didn’t turn out well for my team, but they play 162 games in a season for a reason.
I arrived yesterday morning and had a full day planned, capped with walking to and from the ballpark.
My plan was to visit the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, lunch with a blogger, then the game. Sometimes things don’t go your way or lot of other people have the same idea. It turned out that I was not the only person who wanted to get a jump start on their day and when I arrived at the car rental facility I was well back in the line. The line moved smoothly and did get my car, but I was more than an hour behind schedule.
I didn’t let the delay deter me, but I did cut my visit to the museum short because I had a lunch date with Susie from Susie Lindau’s Wild Ride: Adventures and Misadventures in Boulder, Colorado. I started following her a decade ago and I’ve been following her since. We met at a Boulder restaurant and shared our ups and downs of blogging and life. I arrived early and when she walked in, I recognized her immediately. It was a good lunch, and we had a lot to talk about – blogging, family, and life. We all have similar things going on our lives trying to balance our writing life with the other parts of our lives. When we parted she recommended that I stop at Chautauqua Park to get a view of the Flatirons – massive sandstone rocks – uplifted millions years ago.
I am in awe of the mountains AND Susie. I learned a lot about blogging and writing following her, but like many bloggers who began blogging more than a decade ago, we’ve lost steam and blog less than we did.
I have a baseball game, it’s a day game, before a late flight home. I am going to take a bite out of the day and make the day count. Denver and Coors Field are the 24th cities and 26th ballparks where I have seen professional baseball played. Six more cities remain on my baseball bucket list travels.
Today is going to be an amazing day, it just might be a million and six times better than yesterday. So, I’d better jump up, jump in, and seize the day and take a big bite out of the day. Making the days Count, one day at a time, starting with a lot of small bites to make a big dent.
Do you have BIG plans for your day?
Your final remarks have reminded me how people used to say “carpe diem” a lot, maybe back in the 90s after Dead Poets Society! I must get back that attitude.
Thank you. That is the key to making the days count – taking each day at a time. I remember that movie well and the character Robin Williams played pushed at the established norms of doing life a certain way. Making the Days Count (and carpe diem) being the light others need and sometimes needing the light of others. Stay well and capture that peace.
So glad you’ve met a blogging pal. I’ve now met quite a few, and got on well with every one. It brings their blog even more to life, doesn’t it? My daughter and granddaughter from Spain arrived today. I may be going rather silent in the blogosphere for a bit!
I imagine so! It was if we had already met before and yes, we got on well. It does bring their blog to life. Enjoy the time you have with your family and I’ll read all about when they return to Spain.
How fun that you got to meet up with Susie. I too have followed her for many years. Boulder is beautiful. Our son went to the University of Colorado thus I spent a fair amount of time exploring that area.
I can certainly relate to losing steam regarding blogging. I’ve redirected my focus these days but still like to mingle in the blogosphere from time to time. I’ve only been to a baseball game once and that was at Coors Field.
Thanks so much, Clay! I really enjoyed our lunch and discussion. I love the photo!!
Indeed. Good luck in your garden today. I have lots of ideas running through my head, thank you for priming the pump and enjoy next weekend.
Thank you! It should be a Wild One!
Yes it should. Game 2 in less than 90 minutes!
Woohoo!
